Five Eastern-European women found without registration as prostitutes
Last week a police operation took place in a model apartment in the town of Buxtehude, located in the Stade district. Police and local authorities searched the apartment following anonymous tips, leading to the discovery of five women from Eastern Europe who were not registered as prostitutes.
Five unregistered women was found after anonymous reports
The operation began late evening in Buxtehude’s town center and lasted from 8:45 p.m. until midnight. Anonymous reports had alerted the authorities to suspected unregistered prostitution in the apartment. Later, the police confirmed the results of the search, stating that several significant findings were made.
The investigation began after authorities received photos and videos which showed that young women of Asian and Eastern-European descent were being transported to the apartment regularly in small buses. As a result, the Stade district launched an administrative case under the Prostitute Protection Act.
During the search, five women of Eastern European origin were found, none of whom were registered as prostitutes. Authorities also suspect that at least one of the women may have been brought to Germany under false promises. The tenant of the apartment was present during the search and was questioned by the police.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation is still ongoing, with interviews continuing late into the night. Several pieces of evidence were seized and are now being analyzed. The total number of prostitutes working in the Stade district remains unclear, as registration under the law is nationwide and must be renewed every two years.
Authorities emphasized that there is no central registry for prostitutes in Germany, which is meant to protect their privacy. This lack of a centralized system makes it difficult to track whether a person has stopped working or moved to a different district.
