Police in Germany are looking into several violent incidents at brothels. In recent days, workers have been attacked and threatened by customers in separate cases.
Man with gun in Osnabrück
In Osnabrück, a 39-year-old man pulled a gun on a brothel worker on Monday afternoon and demanded money. She told him she didn’t have any, so he ran away without stealing anything. Police found him a few minutes later on the street. The man, who is from Mettingen (North Rhine-Westphalia), admitted to the crime and was arrested.
Police later realized he looked like another suspect from a crime in January. In that case, a prostitute at an Osnabrück brothel was robbed at gunpoint, tied up, and raped. On Tuesday, the 39-year-old went before a judge at the Osnabrück District Court, who ordered that he stay in jail while the investigation continues.
Attack in Augsburg
In Augsburg, a 76-year-old man attacked a brothel worker, hitting her several times before setting a pile of linens on fire inside the building. The attack happened on Saturday after what police described as a heated argument between the man and the worker. The reason for the fight is still unknown, and authorities have not shared further details.
The worker had minor injuries but did not need to go to the hospital. Firefighters arrived quickly and put out the fire before it could spread. Police came shortly after, securing the scene and making sure no one else was in danger. Investigators are now looking into whether the man has a criminal history or if he has been involved in similar cases before. The case remains open as police continue their work.
