Police Bust Human Trafficking Network Across Germany

German authorities have carried out a major operation against a suspected human trafficking network that forced women into prostitution. The coordinated raids took place across five federal states and led to several arrests, according to investigators.

Raids Conducted in Multiple Regions

Police searched a total of 31 locations in different parts of the country, including Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Lower Saxony, Thuringia, and Berlin. The searches targeted private apartments, business spaces, offices, and so-called apartment brothels.

During the operation, officers detained several key suspects believed to be leading the network. Authorities reported that arrest warrants had already been issued for those individuals.

Investigators also encountered 19 Vietnamese women who were suspected of being involved in illegal prostitution. Officials believe many of them may have been victims of exploitation.

Large Amount of Evidence Seized

During the raids, police discovered significant amounts of cash and other materials linked to criminal activity. Authorities seized approximately 214,000 euros, dozens of mobile phones, and medications of unknown origin.

In addition, officers found a blank-firing weapon and around 33,000 euros in counterfeit money. All seized items are currently being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Network Believed to Operate Nationwide

According to authorities, the center of the criminal operation was located in the city of Halle (Saale). From there, the network is believed to have expanded into multiple cities and regions across Germany.

Investigators are also looking into several other individuals suspected of supporting the network. These include people with German, Polish, and Vietnamese backgrounds.

Victims Lured With False Promises

Police say the victims were mainly young women from Vietnam who were promised well-paid jobs in Germany. However, once they arrived, their situation changed drastically.

Authorities believe the women had their passports and communication devices taken away. They were then forced to work in prostitution under strict control.

The case is being investigated as organized human trafficking, illegal smuggling of migrants, and forced prostitution.

Investigation Ongoing for Two Years

The investigation began in early 2024 after police noticed several Vietnamese women staying illegally in Germany and working in prostitution.

Over time, investigators uncovered a larger organized network behind these activities. The recent raids are the result of nearly two years of investigative work.

More than 300 police officers took part in the operation across several cities, including Halle, Leipzig, Erfurt, Wolfsburg, Berlin, and Chemnitz.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing, and further arrests are possible.
