Cologne Sex Worker Accused of Robbing Client After Drugging Him

A 32-year-old woman from Cologne is standing trial for allegedly drugging and robbing one of her clients. Prosecutors accuse her of aggravated robbery, causing bodily harm, and computer fraud.

The trial began Monday at the Cologne Regional Court.

Man Found Her Through an Online Ad

According to court documents, the incident took place in April 2022. The victim had responded to an online advertisement offering sexual services for payment. He arranged a meeting and visited the woman’s apartment in Cologne.

Once there, she allegedly offered him a drink that had been laced with a sedative. Shortly after drinking it, the man reportedly lost consciousness.

While the man was unconscious, the woman is said to have taken his wallet, stealing about €450 in cash. Investigators claim she also used the victim’s smartphone to transfer four sums totaling around €12,000 to her own bank account.

When the man later woke up and confronted her, the woman allegedly threatened to tell his partner and family about his visit to a sex worker if he went to the police.

Court Proceedings Underway

The Regional Court of Cologne confirmed that the woman faces multiple charges related to theft and fraud. The case is scheduled for four hearing days, and a verdict could be announced by the end of August.

If convicted, the woman could face several years in prison. The prosecution argues that the case shows a dangerous form of exploitation where clients are targeted through online sex ads.

Sex work is legal and regulated in Germany, but all commercial activity must follow local laws. Workers are required to register, pay taxes, and operate under health and safety standards. Cases involving fraud, coercion, or violence are prosecuted as criminal offenses.

Authorities say the case in Cologne is unusual but serves as a warning that both clients and sex workers can be at risk when agreements are made outside licensed venues or without proper safeguards.
