Andrew Tate has been a huge hit on the Internet lately. Some know him for his kickboxing career, while others know him as an Internet celebrity. Many were surprised to find out that currently, he is detained in Romania. His brother, Tristan and two other guys are also closely tied to the case. The two of them are currently facing charges of human trafficking and the creation of an organized crime group.
A spokesperson for the Romanian prosecutor’s office revealed the whole story. The local anti-organized-crime unit obtained permission from a judge to detain the Tate brothers and the two Romanian suspects for a period of 30 days. All of them will be kept in jail over the weekend, the spokesperson stated. It wasn’t a surprise that the suspects have appealed the decision.
One of them also charged with rape, but due to the local laws, his name was not disclosed. The Tate brothers are about to be seen in court in Bucharest. The trial awaits them, and if they are found guilty, they could face up to 20 years in prison.
The Investigation is Not Going Turning Out Well for Andrew Tate So Far
“The judge’s decision on the extended detention won’t hinder our investigation” said Ramona Bolla through a quick phone call. The spokesperson for the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) is not backing down.
What we know so far is that six individuals were recruited and sexually abused under the misdeeds of Andrew Tate and his brother. As stated by Romanian prosecutors, this all took place in Ilfov county in the capital city of Bucharest.
The suspects were forcing their victims to perform pornographic acts with the goal to upload the video material to social media. One of them is also accused of raping a victim twice in March. The victims were allegedly persuaded and physically abused. So far, it is unclear whether the Tate brothels took part in these acts or not.
But What Was Andrew Tate Doing in Romania?
How come Andrew Tate, a United States-born guy and British citizen, ends up in Romania? It turns out that he and his brother were basically living there since 2021. Them being there was fully legal. The problem arose when the US Embassy contacted the Romanian authorities that there is a citizen being at their place in Ilfov against their will.
As soon as they got there, the four suspects formed a group and immediately got into human trafficking. We are talking about a whole network here that operated not only in Romania, but in Britain and the United States as well. Now they can get up to 10 years just for the human trafficking part. For rape, they can get another 10 years.
As the police reported, they conducted a search of two properties in Ilfov county in April. This resulted in them seizing assets related to the case. After the Tate brothers got detained, an execution of five search warrants followed at various homes. The alleged American victim is no longer in the country, Bolla said. The other five alleged victims were Romanian and Moldovan.
Romania, the Most Sought-After Country for Loverboys
It seems like Andrew Tate chose the best place to capitalize on the Loverboy method. This is something that happens in Romania day by day, in multiple cities. Unfortunately, human trafficking is a huge problem these days.
Romania is where pimping is all around the place and where Webcam sites are blossoming. There is no wonder Tate saw this as an opportunity and flew there with his brother. Although we can’t be a 100% sure, we can safely say that he had something planned beforehand.
There is even a YouTube video that was later reposted on Reddit where Tate had some concerning claims. He said that “40 percent” of the reason why he moved to Romania was because he believed sexual assault cases were less likely to be investigated in the country.
The Exact Details about the Detention are Still Unclear
A spokesperson for the brothers did not confirm or deny their detention. “Andrew and Tristan Tate have the utmost respect for the Romanian authorities and they will always assist and help in any way possible” he said.
Andrew Tate’s agent claimed in an email that the allegations of human trafficking were “an orchestrated hoax put on by the matrix.” Whether the Tate brothers have their own lawyers on the front already or not is still unclear.
Andrew Tate Posted on his Only Social Media Account Left
A Tweet got posted on Andrew’s Twitter account that said the following: “The Matrix sent their agents.”
Part of Tate’s fame is that he has been banned from several social media platforms. His TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram accounts are all gone due to his misogynistic statements. He got lucky with Twitter though, as his account was reinstated after Elon Musk’s takeover of the company.
Tate had Tweets where he stated that people who are raped “bear some responsibility”. He argued that women are the property of their husbands. His supporters refer to him as the “king of toxic masculinity.”
It All Started Back in 2016, Will He Ever Stop?
In 2016, he was removed from the British version of the reality TV show “Big Brother”. A video surfaced that clearly showed him hitting a woman with a belt. (Of course, Andrew Tate reportedly said that the incident was consensual.)
Right after his detention, he Tweeted to climate activist Greta Thunberg, boasting about his 33 cars and “enormous emissions.” Thunberg told him to get a life.
There was speculation on how Romanian authorities were able to locate Tate on that Thursday night. He posted a video in response to Thunberg that included a pizza box from a local restaurant with the address clearly visible on the box. However, authorities say that it was a hard job gathering all the evidence during the months-long investigation.
Previously We Wrote
Andrew Tate and his guys are certainly not the only ones in the shady business. Recently we wrote about the Spanish island of Mallorca where ladies were forced to work 21 hours per day as prostitutes. You can read the whole story on SexWorkVienna.
When it comes to stories like this one where human trafficking thrives and the loverboys force women into prostitution, we need to stop for a second. We need to remember that there is a reason why we have a system for legal prostitution in place. Let us show you how legal sex work protects ladies from crime and violence on Sex-Vienna.
