In Völkermarkt, Austria, a 33-year-old man from Romania was arrested for human trafficking and forced prostitution. He is accused of tricking an 18-year-old woman from Romania to come to Austria by promising her a good job in a cheese or cardboard factory. He told her that the job would pay well and that she would have a much better life in Austria. The young woman believed him and decided to travel to Carinthia, hoping for a fresh start. However, once she arrived, things turned out very differently, and her hopes for a better life were shattered.
She was forced to work as prostitute in a brothel
Instead of finding a good job, the victim was forced into sex work at a brothel in Völkermarkt. The man took all of her important documents away, which made it impossible for her to leave or ask for help. He also used violence against her, even knocking out two of her teeth, to control and scare her. On top of that, she was starved and not given enough food, which made her weak and easier to control. The suspect also gave her drugs to make her more obedient. She was given synthetic drugs that affected her mind and made her unable to resist his demands.
After getting a tip from someone who knew about the situation, the police took action. Special officers, including members of the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) and a police dog unit, raided the brothel and an apartment located above it. They entered the building quickly and arrested the suspect without any major issues. During the raid, they also found about 12 grams of Crystal Meth, a dangerous illegal drug.
The drugs were taken as evidence, and the suspect was put in handcuffs and taken away by the police. The suspect has since been taken to jail, where he is awaiting further investigation and legal proceedings.
The police are continuing their investigation to find out if there are any other victims or if more people were involved in this crime. Human trafficking is a serious crime, and the police are working hard to ensure that everyone involved is brought to justice. The young woman is now receiving support and care to help her recover from this terrible experience. Authorities are also reminding people to be cautious when offered jobs abroad, especially if the offer seems too good to be true.
