Trial begins for 22-year-old man for series of violent robberies in Hanau

A 22 year old man stands at the Hanau Regional Court for series of violent robberies. His targets were very diverse, including a brothel, two gaming halls and a restaurant as well.

He started the robberies in Winter 2023, when he entered a local restaurant, threatened two employees with a weapon, and physically assaulted them. The victims suffered head injuries during the attack, after which the suspect fled the scene with approximately 150 euros.

He continued with a gaming hall

The violence escalated during the second robbery at a gaming hall, where the 22 year old man grabbed a female employee by the hair, forcefully slammed her head onto the floor, and dragged her across the room. Despite causing severe head injuries to the victim, the accused left the scene without obtaining any money.

In another incident at a different gaming hall, the man threatened an employee with a weapon before striking and kicking the victim. This time, the suspect managed to escape with a sum of 2,200 euros.

The final robbery targeted a brothel in Hanau, where the accused, along with an accomplice, entered the establishment masked and armed with pepper spray. They sprayed two eymployees in an attempt to forcefully obtain money but ultimately left empty-handed.

The trial is being conducted by the 7th Criminal Chamber of the Hanau Regional Court and is expected to continue over the course of six sessions. A verdict is anticipated in early December.
